Signs You Have German Cockroaches
- Small (10–15mm) light brown cockroaches with two dark parallel stripes behind the head
- Droppings like black pepper or coffee grounds in cupboard hinges and corners
- Egg cases (oothecae) — small brown capsules glued behind fridges and in hinges
- Pale nymphs seen scattering when the kitchen light goes on at night
- A persistent musty odour in heavily infested kitchens
Why German Cockroaches Become a Problem
German cockroaches are the fastest-breeding cockroach species: a single female and her offspring can become thousands within months. They contaminate food surfaces with Salmonella and E. coli, trigger asthma and allergies, and hide inside appliances, hinges and wall voids where household sprays can't reach. Disturbing them with repellent sprays scatters the colony deeper into the building.
Where We Commonly Find Them
- Behind and under refrigerators and dishwashers
- Inside cupboard hinges and drawer runners
- Inside microwaves, toasters and kettles
- Kitchen and bathroom plumbing entries
- Wall voids behind power points
How We Inspect for German Cockroaches
We use flush-out checks behind appliances, sticky monitors and torch inspections of hinges and voids to confirm the species and estimate population density. Identifying the main harbourages before treatment is what separates a two-visit elimination from an endless cycle of spraying.
How German Cockroaches Treatment Works — From $195
German cockroaches are treated with professional gel bait placed into hinges, cracks and harbourages, non-repellent dust and residual cream applied to crevices, and sticky monitors to confirm elimination. Repellent sprays are avoided — they split the colony and drive it deeper into wall voids. The treatment is included at no extra charge in a general pest treatment, with a follow-up at 2–4 weeks timed to hatching egg cases.

Areas We Treat
- Kitchen cupboards and hinges
- Behind and under appliances
- Bathroom vanities and plumbing entries
- Wall voids and power points
- Monitoring stations in active zones
How Long Treatment Takes
The initial treatment takes 60–90 minutes. German cockroach programs require a follow-up visit at 2–4 weeks to treat nymphs hatching from egg cases laid before the first visit — heavy infestations may need a third visit.
What to Do Before Treatment
Empty kitchen and bathroom cupboards onto a table (not the treated benches), pull appliances away from walls for access, clean up crumbs and spills to remove competing food, and secure pets away from the treatment area.
What to Do After Treatment
Do not clean gel bait placements for at least two weeks, don't spray fly spray or other products that contaminate the bait, and leave dead cockroaches in place briefly — cannibalising roaches consume the bait second-hand and carry it back to the colony.
When Follow-Up Treatment May Be Required
A follow-up at 2–4 weeks is standard for German cockroaches because egg cases hatch after the initial visit. The follow-up treats newly hatched nymphs and confirms the colony is eliminated; heavy infestations may require a third visit.
German Cockroaches Treatment Cost
German cockroach treatment is $195 to $350 depending on dwelling type, with follow-up visits at $165 where required. It is included at no extra charge when bundled with a general pest treatment — the best-value way to book.

If a follow-up re-attendance treatment is recommended, it is $165 per visit and will be confirmed in your quote.
Pricing Notes & Disclaimers
- Depending on your location, a travel surcharge may apply, and depending on the extent of the infestation, an infestation surcharge may apply. Any applicable surcharge is always confirmed in your written quote before work proceeds.
- Pricing: All prices are standard/indicative unless confirmed in a written quote. Pricing assumes normal access, standard property condition and infestation level, and that the dwelling remains within the stated allowances.
- Additional Charges: Additional rooms, wet areas, garages, sheds, secondary dwellings, oversized structures, commercial-use areas, difficult access, severe infestations, specialist access equipment and properties outside stated size allowances may attract additional charges. Travel and infestation surcharges may also apply.
- Results: Pest management reduces and controls activity but cannot prevent all future entry or reinfestation. Environmental pressure, neighbouring properties, weather and conducive conditions can affect results.
- Warranty: Warranty does not replace preparation, sanitation, maintenance or proofing obligations. Failure to engage recommended follow-up re-attendance treatments to break breeding cycles on active infestations will void any stated warranty coverage.
- Follow-Up Treatments: Some pests require multiple treatments because of biology, lifecycle, infestation severity or reinvasion. Follow-up visits are chargeable unless expressly included in the quoted program or warranty.

Prevention Advice
- Inspect second-hand appliances, furniture and grocery packaging before bringing them inside
- Keep benchtops crumb-free and store food in sealed containers
- Fix leaking taps and dry sinks overnight — German cockroaches need moisture
- Seal gaps around pipes and under sinks with caulking
- In units and townhouses, report activity to the body corporate — shared walls spread infestations
